The Man Behind the Muscle

Well, here is my first ever blog post and so I guess I should introduce myself...

For the past two years I have lived in Guelph while working my way towards a degree in Human Kinetics. I have a few more years to go before I graduate, but I can't help think about what I want to do post graduation. I still remember when I was a kid and people would ask me the very popular question, "What do you want to be when you grow up Derek?" and I would respond with, "I want to be a superhero!" Now, fast-forwarding about 10 years, I have set my sights on a more realistic career as a firefighter. Yes, I know that has nothing to do with my current schooling but I am not quite ready to start my career yet and a university degree never hurts, right? Besides going to class and doing a bit of studying, I also train for triathlons. I currently train with the regional Triathlon Centre (RTC)
which is based in Gueph, and coached by Craig Taylor. Along with training for triathlons, I am also a part of the University of Guelph varsity swim team . I love the training atmosphere and I am super happy I chose to go to Guelph. Aside from serious varsity sports I love school intramurals. More specifically, I love the glorious sport that is - innertube waterpolo. If you don't know what that is, it's essentially waterpolo played in big blowup tubes. I am fortunate enough to be captaining a team this coming fall and I think we will have a good shot at the title. Lets go Ferocious Butterflies!

That is pretty much my life in a paragraph so I hope you found at least some of it enjoyable to read. If you wanted to bookmark my blog so you can read future blog posts I would completely understand. You can look forward to updates this fall on the Ferocious Butterflies many victories.
